In my post about Study Sites I go into some other details about how to prepare for the Class 4 Unrestricted Commercial Driver's License Knowledge Test, but here are some things I mention in the video in case you need a refresher!
What to expect when you write your Knowledge Test
1. You don’t need an appointment to write your Knowledge test, although there might be a wait – so make sure you give yourself some time.
2. When you arrive at an ICBC office, go through the line and they will give you a number. Watch for your number to be called and go to where you are directed.
3. On the day you do your knowledge test you will also have a vision test – so make sure you have your contacts or glasses that you normally wear when you drive – and if you require contacts or glasses for reading – make sure you have those along too!
4. You will also need to let ICBC know of any medical conditions or physical challenges that may affect your driving. ICBC may require a medical exam if they feel you have a condition that may affect your driving.
5. On the day you go to write your knowledge test make sure you bring primary and secondary ID, which means a piece of ID that is acceptable as listed on ICBC’s site.
6. Make sure you also bring the payment for the test. I am also not going to tell you what the rate is because that is something that could easily change – but here is a link where the information should be given.
7. If you are from another province or country, make sure you find out from ICBC what they require as far as driving records.
The test is done on a computer and it is multiple choice, but I can't overstate: don't relax thinking the answers will be "obvious" because they aren't (in my opinion).
